I attended Calvert School from 2001-2012, which was pretty much pre-K through 8th grade. During these formative years, I learned skills that guided my adulthood and made friends that are still my closest connections. I am so thankful to Calvert School for getting me to where I am today, so I was overjoyed when the alumni director asked me to deliver a watercolor trifold map to guide guests at an upcoming alumni event.
The iconic and historic lower school building, illustrated above, was the original structure before the later expansion to the middle school. The lower school highlights for this project included the planetarium, auditorium, and the new music and science space.
The middle school highlights include the light-filled atrium, and the new athletic center.
There have been many updates to campus since my time there, so I loved how this project allowed me to explore my favorite locations on campus and learn about the new spaces as well.
Several pieces of campus were added together to create this birds-eye view, illustrated in the lush green springtime.
This project came together as a handheld passport for alums to tour through campus on their own and enjoy both familiar and new spaces together. I did all the digital formatting, tying together the existing Calvert School logos, seal, and honeycomb patterns. It was a huge hit! I was honored to work on this project and celebrate my alma mater in such a personal way.
Some original pieces were provided to the Alumni Association as gifts and auction items for future fundraising efforts. I have some greeting cards available on my website shop too!
